Dumbarton Oaks was the estate of Robert and Mildred Bliss. There, they collected art and worked to turn it into a research and garden library. In 1940, they decided to donate it to Harvard University. Shortly before this, Mildred Bliss commissioned Igor Stravinsky to compose the Dumbarton Oaks Concerto.
Because the local D.C. headlines said that the trees were beginning to blossom, we took the 33 bus down Wisconsin Avenue to get to Dumbarton Oaks Garden. There, the gardens are beautiful. Certain areas are manicured and meticulously landscaped, while others have a more natural look.
